The project was born out of the Buy Local, Buy Canadian movement, which found new energy when tariffs first emerged. It encourages people to look to their own communities, their own backyard, for what they need. That spirit resonated deeply with me. I didn’t just want to walk in nature, I wanted to understand it, support it, and be part of it. That spirit of resilience, of self-reliance, of celebrating what we have right here, is at the heart of everything I do.

Why I Started Terroir Montreal
It started the way a lot of good things do: out of necessity. I was stuck in my head, stuck indoors, feeling disconnected from the world around me. I realized I needed to get out, out of the house, out into the world, out into nature. Not just for a change of scenery, but to find some kind of reconnection with the basics of life.
That’s when Terroir Montreal was born. It wasn't planned, and it wasn’t polished. It was just a simple idea: go outside, explore, and share the journey.
Terroir Montreal became my way of doing that. It’s a project about place: the landscapes we move through, the people who shape them, and the food, craft, and culture that grow from them. It’s about slowing down enough to notice the small, good things around us, and remembering that we don’t always have to look somewhere else for meaning or connection.
This project isn’t about being perfect or living some idealized "outdoors" life. It’s messy and personal, sometimes quiet, sometimes exciting. But every journey, whether it’s a hike, a visit to a farm, or just a walk through a new neighborhood, brings me closer to a more grounded, more authentic way of living.
I’m just getting started, and I’m excited to share the path with you!
